The instructor or teaching assistant should use the Assignments category to allow students to easily find the assignments on the home page. Posts assigned to Homework or Assignment will also appear underneath the Assignments tab on the home page.
Assignments as a parent category is also magical because any categories within it will display their posts in streamlined fashion. Categories within Assignments are understood to be student work, uploaded to fulfill an assignment.
In the case of this post, this is an assignment, and it fits within the Magic categories unit within the semester.
This is the content of the post. You may insert a pdf, a link to reading material, a text-based syllabus or any other content.
Having a post be categorized as Bibliography, Reading, Readings or Reference will make it show up under the “Resources” tab on the home page and have a little booklet icon appear next to it wherever it appears.
This post is assigned to multiple categories
Charrette displays posts a certain way based on the category name that you choose. There are certain category names that are in the templates and will make your template act a certain way. You’ll see an example of each one of these within the Magic Categories category on this website. A screen grab of how an optimized list of your categories should look.
Class name of “spot” uses the spot color red
Class name “grey” uses the standard site grey
Attaching a classname of “hide” to an element will make it disappear. Useful if you want to keep something handy, but don’t want it to appear on the site.
Attach the classname “indent” to indent a block of copy or other element
Attach the classname “indentelseblock” to indent a block of copy to match the left margin of the larger indention on the home page
You can use class “right” to float content to the right.
You can use class “left” to float content to the left.
You can use class “imageright” or “imageleft” to do the same with images but have extra margin around those images.
This is a paragraph with css class “agate”. You can attach agate to other elements, too
The white blocks in the Outline tab are ordered by slug name. If you want to put a category first (like “Overview”), simply change the slug name in the Categories area to aOverview. The slug name does not appear on the site unless you specify it.
Avatars are used along with nicknames to identify users of the site. Students need to only set up a Gravatar once and it follows them around whenever they register with the same email address. Students may add multiple email addresses and avatars.
Avatars are cropped into a circle on the site, but should be uploaded as a rectangle.
